Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 15, 2026

Personal Bible (“we,” “us”) is built around your name and family. We collect what we need to personalize scripture for you — and nothing else. We never sell your data, never use it for advertising, and never share it with anyone except the named processors below.

What we collect

How your data is stored

All profile data is stored locally on your device by default. If you sign in to enable cloud backup, your profile and saved verses are also stored on Supabase, our backend infrastructure provider. Data resides in AWS region ap-southeast-1 (Singapore). All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256). You can sign out and delete this data at any time.

We do not transmit your name, family names, contact details, or saved verses to any other third party.

Analytics

We use PostHog, a product-analytics service, to understand which features are used so we can improve the app. Events captured include which screens you open, when you start a prayer session, and whether you save or share a verse. We do not capture your name, family names, contact details, or the text of any verses.

PostHog records an anonymous device identifier (linked to the random, non-identifying account ID created on first launch) together with country, language, and OS version. This data is processed on PostHog’s US-based cloud. We never use it for advertising and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

You can turn analytics off at any time in the app: Profile → About & Legal → “Share anonymous analytics.”

Crash reporting

We use Firebase Crashlytics (Google) to receive automatic reports when the app crashes. Crash reports include the exception type, the stack trace, and basic device info (model, OS version, free memory). We strip personally identifying information before sending. No personal data, no verse text, and no profile content is included in crash reports.

AI features

When you use AI verse search or explanations, your request is sent securely to our server, which calls a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) to generate a response. Requests are not used to identify you and are not stored by the AI provider beyond the immediate processing window.

Notifications

With your permission, we schedule local notifications on your device to remind you of your daily verse and prayer time. These are scheduled by iOS itself — they do not pass through any of our servers. You can disable notifications at any time from your device’s Settings → Notifications → Personal Bible.

Subscriptions

Pro subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple via StoreKit. We never see your payment information. We receive only your entitlement state (whether you have an active subscription) so we can unlock Pro features. All subscription management — cancellation, refund requests, family sharing — is done in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device.

Your rights

Under GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA (California), and equivalent international privacy frameworks, you have the following rights:

Children

Personal Bible is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK, per GDPR). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact privacy@personalbible.app and we will delete it within 7 business days.

International users

Personal Bible is available globally. Wherever you use the app, we apply the same baseline privacy standards described in this policy. Users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California, and other jurisdictions with specific privacy laws have additional rights as described above. By using the app, you consent to the transfer of your data to AWS region ap-southeast-1 (Singapore) for cloud backup, where applicable safeguards are in place.

Changes to this policy

When we materially change this policy, we update the in-app version number and surface a banner asking you to review the changes.
